bugs are to be fixed, it wasnt an intended behaviour so therefore it was removed
if you really want to go fast, just add a speed pill to the level and there you go, you can move fast
*edit* hes talking about the one where if you snapped a door that you had a key for, it made you move x2 as fast, i reported this several several versions ago and it was fixed

and yet one remark:
in one of the coming versions there'll be a speed adjustment option. So you can play it with the speed you want. I think the speed is a bit (only a bit) too slow. I like the speed as it was in the old (DOS) supaplex.

That's right. But it would make enemies faster, too, which was not the case with that bug... :-)

May it be possible that you refer to the original, unmodified Supaplex on a PC newer than around 1990 here? In this case, Supaplex has double speed, which was not intended by the authors, but was a bug which only showed up with newer (faster) PCs, where Supaplex suddenly ran with 70 frames per second instead of 35 frames per second, as intended (which was indeed a bit slower than current R'n'D).
There's a so-called "speed-fix" available on the Supaplex/Igor homepage which makes Supaplex run with "original" (slower) speed on current CPUs.
