Re: How to animate custom elements?
Try all paint programs you have, one will probably be able to load .pcx; then save as .png If that fails, get some new ones :) Three sets of open source utilities which can do it are: graphicsmagick , imagemagick , netpbm -- all are available for Windows, should be readily available in your Linux di...

Re: Expert Mine 3 Level 78
I've just tried that level and ... came up 1 short.
I did find a way to expose the needed emeralds, but not helpfully. At the last 2 bugs, instead of pushing the rock onto the top bug, stand under the rock (so it doesn't fall) and let the bug hit you -- boom, 3 emeralds, 1 diamond, 1 dead player :(

Re: Two player levelsets
I've noticed that many levels in 1-player levelsets are configured for 2-player use; that is, the level definition includes both P1 and P2, and there are 2 of each key. I've never actually tried playing them with 2. I assume the majority of them would actually work, some wouldn't because there's som...

> second best idea to use IFF/ILBM files in 2020... I should put the resulting PNG files into the repository to prevent the hassle of dealing with ancient image file conversion... :D I was going to object that some old levels might also use IFF, but -- well, none in my huge collection do... In fact,...

Re: Graphics problem under Arch Linux
Doesn't the SDL source have regression tests in it? If not, trying to add one is probably out of scope (they won't accept); but if it does, can you provide them with a regression test in suitable form (i.e. in the right directory structure, right buildable form, mentioned in necessary Makefiles or w...

Re: Graphics problem under Arch Linux
Oh, I just noticed that you reproduced the problem on both Intel & AMD IGPs, so it can't be a graphics hardware driver problem. Holger, have you tested with SDL 2.0.12? According to https://discourse.libsdl.org/t/sdl-2-0-12-released/27318, it was released just a couple of months ago. I bet this ...

So it is not a problem with the Arch central build system or packaging of RnD. It's a problem with tools (C compiler etc.) or libraries provide...

Re: Share R'n'D Data Between Linux and Windows
Somewhere in Setup, could you add a 'your user data directory is here' -- editable field which doesn't actually allow you to change it, but lets you copy-paste it into other software? No, not fake editable field, just a display which, when hovered, says something like 'click to copy into paste buffer'

Re: Crashes, most often when starting or finishing levels?
You said that `xbindkeys-config` also failed that way. That should never happen and still indicates a hardware issue. The fact that renaming its config file 'fixed' it only means that you changed it to perform less complicated behavior, thus avoiding the danger area. I googled for the exact phrase y...

Re: Crashes, most often when starting or finishing levels?
`sudo cpupower frequency-set -u 3000MHz` That would not change the speed of the memory bus, which is where I think the problem lies. The necessary troubleshooting steps in that direction are: see whether the BIOS offers any RAM speed controls; if so, significantly detune them; if not, try omitting ...

Re: Level completion coloring for finished levels gets reset for a levelset after finishing a level
Ooooh, even weirder. Before I started playing with this, 'Override Level Graphics' was 'Auto', 'Custom Graphics' was 'Classic Graphics'. And what I saw looked one way. I changed 'Override' to 'Yes', and saw the other thing (classic graphics with color-coded levels). I changed 'Override' back to 'Aut...

Re: Level completion coloring for finished levels gets reset for a levelset after finishing a level
Aha! I get the same results as you if I turn on (what I had turned off), Setup > Custom Artwork > Override Level Graphics. It seems odd that using 'override level graphics' to override EMC Emerald Mine 10 with EMC Emerald Mine 10's graphics causes a change; but, it does. Holger, what's going on here?

Re: Level completion coloring for finished levels gets reset for a levelset after finishing a level
I'm using no custom graphics at all. Perhaps it is different in EMC levels -- basically every levelset has (or potentially has) its own custom graphics. Currently in levelset 'Emerald Mine Club' -> 'Emerald Mine 10'. aka "$RO_GAME_DIR/levels/Emerald Mine Club/emc_emerald_mine_10"

(I don't mean to offer underclocking as a solution, just a diagnostic. If it's stable underclocked, it proves some hardware stability problem in the system, and you should feel 100% confident returning it under warranty.)
