Re: blinkenrockford?

Nobody is going to add that as a special CE effect to thousands of pre-existing levels :)

I'd like it as a game(engine) feature.

Re: [MM] 2-4 magicians

(have not yet tried this game)

Shouldn't the beams from each wizard / player be a different color?

blinkenrockford?

When I first open a level like this:

-- I often spend 30 seconds trying to find where the heck the player is! It would be nice if the player(s) cel(s) would make themselves extra obvious during a pause; e.g. slowly fade in and out, or be Extra Shiny, or something along those lines.

Re: congrats on MirrorMagic etc.

I do run it from the build directory, but it doesn't find the artwork files. (Well, now they are in system directories so I'm no longer ...

I ended up copying the following files into place manually: /usr/share/games/rocksndiamonds/...: conf/gamecontrollerdb.txt graphics/gfx_classic/RocksDF.png graphics/gfx_classic/RocksDoorMM.png graphics/gfx_classic/RocksMM.png sounds/snd_classic/bong.wav sounds/snd_classic/fuel.wav sounds/snd_classic...

Regarding the two announcements: https://www.artsoft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2534 'Rocks'n'Diamonds 4.1.0.0 released!' https://www.artsoft.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2535 'Mirror Magic 3.0.0 released!' (1) I see these same announcements on the front page of www.artsoft.org. However, those h...

Re: 'Burning dynamite (EM style)' weird behavior

Ah, thanks @RAP! I should have looked in the encoding; as you note, these are actually different elements, hex 3B with a long fuse and 3E with a short fuse (and I guess at least one other in between, based on your observations). So they are, simply, different elements provided by EM / EMC, and impli...

'Burning dynamite (EM style)' weird behavior

I just played the trivial level '/usr/share/games/rocksndiamonds/levels/Emerald Mine Club/emc_eagle_mine_13/35S' (EMC Eagle Mine 13 level 35). [Edited to correct the levelset, don't know how I got it wrong the first time...] This contains 18 'Burning dynamite (EM style)' elements. There doesn't seem...

detecting identical & near-identical levels

> I still have to post an automatic comparison of levels in sets using hashes, which might help in detecting duplicate sets... There are pure duplicates, there are duplicates with small tweaks (stamping in a levelset name & number, e.g.), and there are duplicates where certain mass substitutions hav...

Re: AmoebeAbleger(): This should never happen!

Arranging transport by some other method. Meanwhile, I discovered that somehow one of the output files (the set of results for one particular levelset under one particular RnD version) was corrupted, with a block of 1849 NUL bytes at the beginning, which accounted for a substantial part of the overa...

Re: AmoebeAbleger(): This should never happen!

I made a tarball of all the tapes (solved & not-solved). It's ~8MB compressed.

Would like to upload it to you *not* for public view -- not until we've spent a little effort on un-breaking old broken tapes. Is there a way I can do that through this forum thingy?

Re: can't autotest levels with space in name

Hmmm, wow, I don't think so ... will have to investigate tonight. My directory structure was initially out of Ubuntu (Debian) packages of RnD 3.x (possibly 2.x), including their install script which, after installing the binaries, would ask whether you wanted to download stuff that didn't meet their...

Re: 'play until shortly before death' isn't quite that

For the 'continued game operation after level solved', ... There are two time displays visible. I don't know the right terminology. One is the _counter_, let's say, which (in most levels) counts down how much time you have left, but in levels with no limit, counts up how much time you have consumed....
